Tring Pool

Pool sessions for juniors are held on Saturday evenings currently between 18oohrs and 2000hrs.

Tring Pool Coaching Session

The sessions are run in  blocks and follow school term times. In addition to the pool sessions attendees on the course can attend a further two outdoor sessions usually at safe locations on the Grand Union canal at Bulborne, Little Tring or Cow Roast. This is obviously subject to suitable access and weather conditions. Payment for each course is in advance by cheque or bank transfer and you will be advised by e-mail when fees are due.

Equipment is provided at Tring for both groups although if someone has their own boat suitable for pool use they are welcome to bring it if they wish. Please note that the parent or guardian has to be responsible for transportation, loading/unloading; getting the boat to and from the poolside and making sure it is clean. The coaches are busy looking after 12 children on each session and cannot get involved in managing equipment. Although great care is taken, CCC and the BCU cannot be responsible for loss or damage to equipment bought to the pool however this is caused.

The coaching programme will follow the BCU guidelines to achieve the standard required by the Paddle Power and Star awards schemes operated by the BCU.

For Tring Pool sessions you will need:

  • Normal swimming kit plus a T shirt
  • Paid up course fees
  • To be able to swim
  • To be prepared to have fun

Canoeing is a potentially risky activity and Chiltern Canoe club takes safety very seriously. Each session is run with the safety of the participants in mind. There will always be a qualified lifeguard on duty as well as BCU approved coaches. There is a first aid kit at the pool and all coaches have received first aid training.
