Events

Courses, activities and events for members and non members.

Members of the club use various paddle craft and do a variety of activities – with a focus on enjoyment, rather than competition.

To promote and support the wide variety of paddling disciplines the club and it’s members organise numerous events throughout the year.

Activities are arranged by and for members.

A variety of events are organised exclusively for members through the year. Members can join the Paddle & a Pint evening sessions from late spring to early autumn and monthly Saturday mornings paddles through the chillier months. With members-only pool sessions, trips to nearby artificial white water courses and river trips there is always something to look forward to.

Members Events

Paddle and a pint

We run paddle-and-a-pint sessions on Wednesday or Thursday evenings throughout the summer. Starting from our boat shed at Bulbourne, we paddle for an hour or so and end with refreshments at a local canal-side pub. This is aimed at members who are comfortable paddling in a straight line.

Events are announced in our members-only Facebook group. Information on joining as a member can be found here: membership page

Stand up Paddleboarding.

We hold stand up paddle boarding sessions for our members at a beautiful local reservoir on Friday evenings throughout the summer months. Try your hand at SUP yoga, or our fun & games session or simply paddle as the sun goes down. All boards and kit are provided, or you can bring your own.

Canoe Polo

Canoe Polo is an exciting, fast-paced ball game played in kayaks.

Chiltern Canoe Club are pleased to announce a new activity based at Tring pool: canoe polo sessions will be held on the second Saturday of each month at Tring pool in the evening.

The format will be teams of five playing for two five minute halves. We will be using the British Canoeing polo rules as closely as our facilities (and talent) will allow.

This will be open to all club members. If you already have a team of like minded friends we will accommodate you. If you are new to polo don’t worry we will be explaining the rules and some of the months will be practising and training. We will match teams on ability but the possibility of ladies verses juniors or veterans verses the young guns would be fun to watch and play in.

Boats, paddles, spray decks provided but if you are uncomfortable in any of the club boats, speak to us. If you have a helmet and buoyancy aid please bring it along.

Non members, guests and visitors are welcome but will be charged a supplement per session to cover temporary membership.

Trips are organised throughout the year, catering to all abilities.

Local canal trips enable novices and experienced paddlers to practice new skills.

The club or individual members arrange trips on moving rivers, providing more adventure and new experiences.

Occasionally, the club or individual members arrange more adventurous guided trips to the classic rivers and coast around Britain.

Taster Days

We organise a number of taster day events during the summer months.

Every year, British Canoeing promotes Go Canoeing week and Chiltern Canoe Club supports this with an taster event open to the general public: turn up, sign in and paddle. We also organise additional taster events to encourage people to tyr-before-they-buy membership or alongside events promoted by other organisations such as the local Canal and Rivers Trust. These give non members the opportunity to dip a toe in the water with canoe, kayak and SUP.

Have fun. Get fit.

We focus on making paddlesports fun.
